     As I write this letter, it is the end of June and I am considering events to happen in August. I believe many of your summer plans will have been completed by the time you read this. One of the great coming local events is the Czech American Congress Festival Picnic on Sunday, August 23rd at Kiwanis Park in Brookfield, IL (11 am).
     Also many of you will be enjoying the United Moravian Societies Picnic on June 21st, the Moravian Day Dance and Program September 12th & 13th, the Bohemian National Cemetery Annual Picnic on July 19th, the Annual Flower and Garden Show September 12th, and the Houby Days Festival October 3-4.
     This coming August will be a significant time in the affairs of CSAGSI. At that time we install new officers for the next two years. The slate you nominated in May is a very fine group of officers. I recognize that my time as society president is drawing to a close. This is my last message to you as your CSAGSI President. It has been an honor for me to be a thread in steering the society the past four years. Surrounded by so many sterling leaders I can assure you that the society has a bright future. My greatest wish is that other society members will raise their hand when the officers ask for volunteers or for persons to take board positions. Working together and contributing in any way possible will keep us as the premier resource dealing with the many thousands of Czecho-Slovak immigrants and their descendents who have lived or passed thru Chicago.
     A look at a recent membership report for our society showed 1048 members in 41 states with 494 people residing in Illinois, 55 in California, 36 in Michigan, etc. I’m looking forward to the continued involvement of everyone as a booster of CSAGSI. If you can’t locate me at CSAGSI you can find me at the outstanding Czechoslovak Museum and Library in Oak Brook, Illinois.
